The Warminster Club is very supportive of local young people and youth groups who need financial support for some of their projects.
We help students when they have to raise the money for foreign travel and go to countries where they get involved with local projects and using their personal skills in schools etc. We donate to youth groups who take young people on outward bound programmes and projects within the UK. We support the Scouts and Guides where we have helped with the purchase of uniforms, equipment and sponsoring Guides who are selected to attend foreign events.
Young Ambassador of the 21st Century:
This is a competition for young people between 15 and 19 years of age who do voluntary work within their community, they go through a series of interviews at various levels whereby they get a bursary of £500 at District level for getting through to the next round and a further bursary at the Multiple District level where if successful they would get a £1,000 bursary to be spent on their project. The winning candidate would then be entered into the final part of the competition at our Lions Europa Forum.
Young Leaders in Service Award:
The Lions Young Leaders in Service Awards recognise young people between the ages of 11 and 18 for 12 months of community service. Their efforts are rewarded with a gold certificate for 100 hours and a Silver certificate for 50 hours of service. These certificates are recognised as a character reference for their Portfolio.
Youth Camp Exchange, In & Out:
The Youth Camp and Exchange Programme brings the ideal of global citizenship to life. Each year this programme gives thousands of young people the opportunity to experience life in other cultures and gain new understanding of the world through travel abroad. Unlike some youth exchange programmes, YCE does not involve academic study or employment. Instead, participants are encouraged to use this travel opportunity to represent their home countries and share their own culture while learning about and embracing a new one, forging the way to becoming young ambassadors for peace and international understanding. We send young people aged between 18 and 21 to other countries and accept young people from other countries who are hosted by Lions for a 10 day period at the end of July/August. At the end of their stay they go to the UK Youth Camp for a further 10 days where they meet young people from all over the world. They have a very active programme which includes sightseeing and many physical activities.

This art contest for children encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. The UK winner is invited with a parent to the Houses of Parliament on United Nations Day where their Poster is displayed before being entered into the final International stage at the United Nations Building in New York, the international winner is again invited to the United Nations Building in New York and their poster is displayed throughout the world during that year.
